Rui Huang is a Los Angeles-based digital artist whose practice spans 3D imagery, visual design, look development, lighting, and cinematic storytelling. With years of experience across the game, animation, and design industries, she has developed a multidisciplinary practice that bridges concept art, visual development, 3D production, material development, and lighting.
Her work is driven by atmospheric worldbuilding, symbolic imagery, and emotionally grounded visual storytelling.
She holds a BA from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and an MFA in Animation and Digital Arts from the University of Southern California, and has been a BAFTA member since 2021.
Her work has been exhibited and recognized internationally through film festivals, cultural institutions, and major media projects. Her short film “There You Are” has been selected by more than 50 international film festivals worldwide, including Academy Awards–qualifying festivals, and her artwork “Mind” was shown as part of the J. Paul Getty Museum’s Unshuttered project. She also created environment designs for Imagine Dragons’ animated music video “Birds,” which has received over 300 million views.
